Frequently asked Questions

Do you hire out your kayaks and canoes?

We do NOT hire out our kayaks and canoes. All our water activities are guided by appropriately qualified and experienced instructors.

How long are your water sessions?

Our standard half day water sessions are 3 hours. This includes getting kitted up before going out on the water and getting changed at the end of the session, so if you are speedy you get more time out on the water!

Where do we meet?

You will receive full details of where to meet and what time when you book. Generally our water sessions run from Glenridding Steamer car park at the southern end of Ullswater.

Where do we get changed?

We have two changing tents for you to get changed in if you want some privacy, though many people are happy to change in the great outdoors.

Will there be other people on our activity?

All our sessions are private sessions for you and your group unless they have been advertised as open sessions. This means that we can tailor the session to suit you and your group.

Do I need to be able to swim to take part in water sessions?

No, you do not need to be able to swim. You will be provided with a buoyancy aid, though please do tell us if you feel a little nervous.

Do I need to have any experience?

No, our sessions can be tailored for complete novices through to experienced paddlers.

Are there any size limitations?

If you have any concerns please contact us to discuss your concerns and needs.

What if there are more than 8 of us?

All our sessions are based on a maximum of 8 clients with one instructor. Please contact us as we may be able to accommodate up to 24 on the water in a mix of stand up paddleboards, canoes and tandem sea kayaks with additional instructors. This also applies to our walking activities -  we can accomodate larger groups with additional instructors.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes, our minimum age is 8. This is because our boats may not be suitable for children of a younger age to actively participate. Some activities have a higher minimum age due to the physical demands of the activity. Please see the individual activities for details or give us a call.

What if I have to cancel?

Please refer to our terms and conditions regarding cancellations.

What about covid 19?

“We’re Good To Go”. This is an industry standard mark designed by Visit England in partnership with the national tourist organisations. For details regarding how your booking may be affected by covid 19 please refer to our terms and conditions.
